2. A Villain Completely Out-Powers The Hero

No individual villain that has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe up to now has been so far above the hero they're fighting in terms of power that they've genuinely made us fear for the hero's life. The Chitauri were a joke and all of the individual villains in standalone hero movies were more or less on a level playing field with the heroes they were facing in terms of their power levels, so utilising more villains who pose a genuine threat to the heroic characters will add a little something to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thor was never really dwarfed by Loki or Malekith (even Kurse didn't have the versatility Thor possesses), Iron Man has only ever gone up against other armoured villains and Aldrich Killian who couldn't even fly - why didn't Iron Man exploit that? - and Captain America has only faced Red Skull and Winter Soldier - both of whom were more or less his equals in terms of physical prowess. A villain team-up could be an idea, while Thor could go up against Surtur, Iron Man could go up against Fin Fang Foom, Captain America could go up against Mister Hyde, Doctor Strange could go up against Dormammu and the Hulk could go up against Red Hulk €“ just as a few examples. It would really up the ante and add some spice to proceedings for us to feel genuine concern for the heroes' lives €“ something that we haven't really been able to do yet.
