One thing we still don't know about Marvel Phase 3 is who's playing Doctor Strange. Plenty of names have circulated the role (getting in the MCU is a golden ticket for actors nowadays) and in recent weeks the top candidate, tipped by the industry press, has become Benedict Cumberbatch. There's still not been any official conformation yet, but we do know who's going to be playing one of the other big new heroes. Chadwick Boseman, who delivered a movie-dominating performance as James Brown in biopic Get On Up, has been cast as Black Panther, the MCU's first movie fronted by a black superhero. The most obscure actor Marvel have handed a lead role to, Boseman has signed a five-picture deal, suggesting that T'Challa will play a pretty big part in the MCU going forward. He's an interesting choice in that there's little audience recognition, although at this point the Marvel name is so big it pretty much overshadows any other constituent part (except perhaps Robert Downey Jr.). Who will be playing other new heroes, Captain Marvel and the Inhumans, remains to be seen, but with their films over four years away, there'll be a bit of time before that rumour mill really gets moving.
