8. Avengers 3 Is A Two-Parter Because Of A Loophole
The process of splitting a film in two has become a go-to money making scheme in Hollywood recently. Since Harry Potter made a killing by turning Deathly Hallows into a two-parter, just about every young adult series is repeating the trick with their own final entries. And now the effects are beginning to be felt on a wider scale. D.C. have recently announced Justice League will be spread over two movies and, for once joining a trend rather than creating it, the next two Avengers will be part of one big story. With Avengers: Infinity War it's a little different, however. The Infinity War comic story comes after Infinity Gauntlet, the arc that we've assumed (thanks to the Infinity Stones and Thanos) the MCU has been building up, meaning that most likely Part 1 will see Gauntlet brought to life, with Part 2 actually dealing with the titular event. Although if that's the case, then why not just call them that individually? The reasoning stems from a myriad of contractual obligations. Most of the actors in the MCU are tied into a certain number of movies, with the six-picture deals for Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth set to end with Avengers 3. There has been talk of having the three biggest heroes of the series sit out the third team-up, saving their last contracted film for one final appearance in Avengers 4, but it appears that may not be the case; a legal loophole could mean that the actors could star in both parts and have it technically count as one movie. More bang for Marvel's buck.
