Especially since, from the looks of it, it's the last chance that he'll get. Well, at least with this incarnation of Star Trek. Whilst the reboots have been highly successful, and a lot of that is down to the cast, everyone only signed up for three films. It's not like these crazy multi-decade Marvel deals the contracts the main cast went in on only secured them for a trilogy. So they could all very well leave after Star Trek 3. What exactly would Paramount do after that? Reboot it all over again? Recast the departing actors and hope nobody notices? Probably wouldn't work, since amongst those it's speculated might do a runner are Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto. They're such perfect casting as Kirk and Spock, how could you possibly hope to replace them? It seems like the entire cast might need replacing, anyway, with the new Sulu John Cho recently admitting that getting everybody back once their contracts technically end with the first film would be tough. So, the third Star Trek could very well end up being the last. At least, the last with this crew. Which is a little bittersweet.
