10 Things You Need To Know About Suicide Squad

8. The Joker Might Not Be A Big Part

Whilst the Suicide Squad film has a fairly stunning all-star cast in general, one particular bit of news stuck out above all others. That is, that Jared Leto would be taking on the role of the Clown Prince Of Crime, a part that hasn't been tackled in live action since Heath Ledger perfected it in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight. The moratorium on live-action Jokers since has probably been a mix of nobody being able to touch Ledger's transcendently brilliant performance, and respect for the actor's death soon after completing the film, but expect Leto's iteration to be very different. For one thing, he might not even play that big a part. The Joker has never been a part of the Suicide Squad in the comics. Why would he be? The guy's not a team player. Sure, he's teamed up with Lex Luthor and the Injustice League on occasion, but more often than not he's ended up betraying them, or just used them so he could get closer to Batman. With the Dark Knight not scheduled to make an appearance in the film, then, Joker's place on the team seems somewhat unlikely. Not to mention it would be an odd way to introduce him to the DC Cinematic Universe. There's a chance the film might take a cue from the recent Assault On Arkham animated film, which saw the Squad trying to stop bombs The Joker left across Gotham before being caught.
