4. Captain Boomerang Is As Ridiculous As He Sounds

And to be fair to Enchantress, she's far from the most ridiculous member of the Suicide Squad. That dubious honour must be awarded to Captain Boomerang, who does pretty much exactly as his name suggests, and who has nonetheless been a stalwart member of the modern Suicide Squad since day one. That's despite him being a constant thorn in the side of every other person on the team, a perpetual antagonistic presence with a ludicrously broad Australian accent who €“ let's quit beating around the bush €“ primarily uses boomerangs as a weapon. Yes, boomerangs. They fly away and come back to you. Oh yeah, it's cool when Bruce Wayne has custom-made ones in the shape of bats, but when a guy puts on a blue smock, white scarf and a Thunderbirds-style hat actually yeah he seems totally lame. Yet Boomerang is one of the most interesting members of the team, constantly rubbing everyone up the wrong way, from the straight-laced Flag to the nihilistic Deadshot. Originally an enemy of The Flash who's since turned up in the Arrow TV show to bother Oliver Queen, Digger Harkness turned to using his boomerangs for crime after the public at large (understandably) ridiculed his skills. Characterised as a "a jerk and a screw-up" during his time with the Squad, he still managed to remain an active member for years, despite his grating personality and blatant racism. It probably helped that he was a total coward who stayed out of harm's way and spent more time fighting with his teammates. An interesting role for the otherwise milquetoast (A Good Day to Die Hard), then. At least he's actually an Aussie...
