10 Things Nobody Wants Admit About The Amazing Spider-Man Films
6. Both Suits Are Actually Awesome
The costume may not make the hero in real life but for big screen superhero movies, a good costume is an absolute must. And, in spite of what you may think, both Amazing Spider-Man films succeeded in their quest to do that.
The outfit used in the first one is somewhat different to the character's traditional look. Yes, all of the trademark Spidey attributes are there - the blue and red, the web design, the spider logo and the white eyes - but the designers went to the effort to give it more of a unique look to differentiate it from Sam Raimi's as-comic-accurate-as-you-can-get look. And it ultimately paid off, giving Peter a slightly sleeker and sharper look that totally fitted this specific universe.
The suit used in the second instalment has gone down in history as one of the divisive film's silver linings - the reason being that it managed to unseat Raimi's as the most comic accurate look of them all. With the traditional design back and the large white eyes to give it more of a bug-like look, Peter's costume in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was almost identical to the character's look in the Ultimate Spider-Man comic series.
All in all, the Spider-Man outfits in both films are highly under-appreciated. The first one tried something different while the second one did the opposite, offering up a perfect dose of comic-accuracy. Both, however, are fantastic.
