10 Things Star Wars Fans Don't Want To Accept About The Movies

5. Goofy Yoda Is The Worst Yoda

The Empire Strikes Back arguably remains the best Star Wars movie, though it is flawed on some ways. Ultimately, many of those are easy to forgive, especially when there's so much in Irvin Kershner's sequel that works so wonderfully. It's the middle of this iconic adventure that sags, though.

While Han, Leia, Chewie, and Threepio set off on an entertaining enough mission as they navigate asteroid fields and avoid the Empire, Luke Skywalker arrives on Tatooine and starts training to become a Jedi under the tutelage of Yoda. Unfortunately, this Yoda isn't really the wise Master from the prequels, and is either used for laughs or just outright goofy.

It's hard to understand why George Lucas portrayed Yoda the way he did in the prequels when he was basically a senile old man in The Empire Strike Back, and that now makes these scenes in The Empire Strikes Back even harder to get on board with.

While the Yoda from the original trilogy is often hailed as some sort of classic, untouchable character, that's really not the case even without comparing his portrayal there to the prequels. If anything, he's just a chore to spend time with.
