4. The Way Luke Skywalker's Story Ended DOES Make Sense

While it's hard to deny that the portrayal of Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi was disappointing, the way his story ended does make sense in some respects. Yes, it would have been more satisfying to learn that he had spent decades battling the First Order while training a new generation of Jedi, but that's not necessarily a good fit for how the character was portrayed in the original trilogy.

As a young man, Luke was impulsive, selfish, and quite clearly tempted by the Dark Side - look at how he dresses in Return of the Jedi - so is it really hard to believe he considered striking down his nephew when faced with the prospect that he might be training the next Darth Vader?

The fact he went into hiding and cut himself off from the Force rather than face his mistakes also isn't a shocker, and him making that ultimate sacrifice to buy his sister and the Resistance time did go a long way in redeeming him.

Even Mark Hamill hated this direction for his most famous role, but to say it makes no sense or was the wrong direction to take Luke in feels like a stretch. Unfortunately, it's just now what most hoped to see from where his story went next.

Josh Wilding hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
