10 Things That Could Save The Transformers Movies

1. War

So far, viewers have been treated to four films worth of raw, techno-revenge-porn where several sets of robots beat the Jolly Rogers out of each other. It's strange then, that the causes and effects of the war, on which all Transformers fiction is based, is touched upon so irrelevantly and flippantly. It's sure rubbing salt into fan's wounds that no Autobot or Decepticon in these films has ever had a true epiphany that their war is dreadful and never-ending. It doesn't help convince other sets of audiences, who aren't wholly familiar with the Transformers as a franchise, that these robots are genuine characters and not avatars of destruction. Using war as a genuine theme in any future Transformers film, and displaying what impact it has on the various characters, would surely raise audience's view of the whole enterprise, giving the Transformers films the level of respectability they're more than capable of.
