10 Things That Will Piss Fans Off About Star Wars: The Force Awakens
2. Luke Is Barely In It
This might be one of the most disappointing things of all, since the return of Luke Skywalker was hyped so heavily before the film came out. When he finally appears in the last scene its something of an anti-climax; there are no lightsaber duels or big speeches, just a silent look between him and Rey when she arrives to return his lightsaber. The story was obviously designed this way from the beginning to set up Episode VIII, with Luke becoming a mentor to Rey and reuniting with Leia for the first time since Ben turned to the Dark Side. Fans will either accept this, or feel cheated that a beloved character is essentially used as bait to make sure they return for the next instalment. In fact this could be one of the rare cases where it would have been better not to reveal Hamills involvement; if theyd kept his appearance as a surprise cameo instead of making fans believe Luke would have a meaningful role, it could have avoided a lot of angry message board comments.
