10 Things The MCU Should Steal From X-Men: The Animated Series
7. Any Incarnation Of The Team Will Work
With that in mind, the MCU must also realize that any incarnation of the X-Men has the ability to translate well to the silver screen. This includes their own new lineup.
Noticeably missing from X-Men: TAS’s ranks were Iceman, Angel, Colossus, Nightcrawler, and Kitty Pryde, among other favorites from iconic lineups. Although a handful of well-known characters only made brief appearances in the series, their core X-Men team never suffered from these absences.
The key to their team’s success was the diverse ways the characters interacted ideologically. The MCU can easily fill their initial X-team with second or third-tier mutants and still create an iconic lineup as long as they keep the characters diverse in motive, action, and reaction.
In an established MCU, there are already droves of issues for mutants to debate. The Sokovia Accords, the Battle of New York, the Snap, the public outing of Spider-Man - all of these talking points can quickly develop the characters and the team dynamic.
Casual audiences may wonder why Rogue was swapped out for Boom-Boom, but by the time the credits roll, the MCU will have created household names from obscure mutants in a similar fashion to Guardians of the Galaxy.
