10 More Worthwhile Things The Margaret Thatcher Funeral Could Have Funded

6. Dredd 2

Dredd And we move right onto one that's still a fresh commodity and on everyone's minds. Last year's reboot of the 2000AD comic book Dredd was made on a relatively modest budget of $45m, yet still managed to look visually fantastic, rope in esteemed lead Karl Urban, and deliver all of the bloody thrills that fans of the source material expected. It was an unexpected critical success, though tragically only recouped about 80% of its budget back, making it a box office bomb despite decent home video sales. Given that by necessity sequels almost always cost more - owing to both inflation and the tendency for them to have more explosive, financially demanding set-pieces - there's no way this one is happening, but an injection of £10m might have been the boost that a studio or enterprising individual needed to pony up some of the extra cash.
