Here's a far more realistic prospect that apparently
will happen, regardless of whether it's made for $10m or $5 in Jorma Taccone's basement. MacGruber cost a whopping $10m, and though it didn't quite make its budget back, it has become a cult classic, earning a fanbase sizeable enough that Kickstarter really is a legitimate possibility. The other possibility - up until this week, of course - would have been for the UK government to donate £10m (which would work out at around $15.2m at current conversion rates, significantly higher than the budget of the original) and give us the barmy sequel to the ludicrously bone-headed spoof original. Would it have been financially realistic? Sure. I just don't think the Tory government have ever heard of MacGruber...
