10 Things We Know About The Future Of The X-Men Movies

1. Ryan Reynolds Says Deadpool 3 Might Not Happen

After the phenomenal success of the first Deadpool, sequels were inevitable. Deadpool 2 just landed, and it's again delivering strong box-office numbers, making a third entry seem like a foregone conclusion. But that might not be the case.

Reynolds himself voiced his own doubts about Deadpool 3 while chatting to EW, stating “I don’t know that there would be a Deadpool 3. I really don’t."

It seems odd to not want to continue with the franchise in light of its overwhelming popularity, but the actor went on to add that the character of Deadpool isn't going anywhere:

"I do see him as being a part of X-Force, obviously. I would love to see him in a team-up sort of thing, like a mano a mano or a great female character from the X-Men universe."

The Deadpool movies are difficult to make, and stressful for all involved, especially with such a high bar to hit. It's not surprising that Reynolds has reservations about doing it a third time - the man has been working on Deadpool movies for over five years.

But the character will continue on. His story will develop in X-Force, and though Deadpool 3 might not ever happen, you can expect to see plenty of the cocky hero in other X-Men movies for the foreseeable future.
