One of the most exciting prospects of a combined Disney and Fox is the fact that the X-Men, the Fantastic Four and The Avengers would all be under one roof, making it highly likely that characters like Wolverine, the Human Torch and Magneto would be added into the current MCU.

Initially, it was assumed that this was one of the biggest - if not the biggest - motivators for Disney to pursue Fox in the first place, but that reality was quickly shattered when the discussion turned to Disney's wish to compete with Netflix, bagging a ton of extra content - Fox also owns Avatar, Alien, Planet Of The Apes, Ice Age and Die Hard - to flesh out their upcoming streaming service.

Okay, so Disney doesn't want Fox just to combine their superhero properties, but that possibility has been discussed, right? Well, according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige - the godfather of the MCU - no. No it hasn't.

Speaking to Vulture, Feige said:

“I read about it [the merger] in the press like most people did. These are big deals, and certainly above my pay grade. The truth of the matter as I understand it is the deal has to be figured out. There’s been no communication. We’re not thinking about it. We’re focusing on everything we’ve already announced. If and when the deal actually happens, we’ll start to think more about it. Until then, we have a lot to do.”

He then added that an X-Men/MCU crossover would be "years away", saying that Marvel has "announced everything through 2019, so none of those would be adjusted."

If Disney and Fox do join forces, then it would be foolish to assume they won't weave the X-Men into the MCU. But that day is a long way off.
