10 Things We Know About The Future Of The X-Men Movies

6. Channing Tatum's Gambit Movie Is Still Happening

The Channing Tatum-led Gambit is one of the most troubled blockbuster movies in recent memory.

Most people will know the card-wielding mutant from his brief appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (where he was played by Taylor Kitsch), and he's now supposed to be getting his own, Tatum-starring movie - but things just keep getting in the way.

The project has been circulating since 2014 when Tatum officially signed on, and since then, no less than three different directors have boarded the project and subsequently left, leading many to wonder if Gambit will ever happen, or if it's simply doomed.

Disney's proposed acquisition of Fox has thrown another spanner in the works, but according to producer Simon Kinberg, Gambit is still full steam ahead.

Just a few weeks ago, Kinberg told Variety that Gambit has a script - a good script - and that they hope to find a director very soon. What's more, he added that the movie could begin shooting at the end of this summer, a bold statement to make considering the troubled history of this project.

Whether Gambit survives the Disney buyout or not remains to be seen, but considering Tatum's star power, the Mouse House may want to keep him around.
