Like, that much should be obvious to anyone who's ever seen them together, but Smith waxes lyrical about his long-time collaborator and offers some insight into how key he was in Smith's own success and to building the View Askew universe.

"He's the star of the movie and he's amazing in the f*cking flick. I tell people at the beginning of every night: we only get to make this journey... because I met a boy who said dirty things to me and I said 'come with me, we're going to Hollywood!'And like, I met a true American original, Jason Mewes, who I said 'I think you're funny, I wonder if people will find you funny outside of New Jersey? And somebody should put you in a movie one day!' And then I was that person and he was our passport and has been our passport to the world. The guy least likely. The guy that was never going to get out of Highlands of his own accord... He opened up the entire world to us."

He also goes on to say how great Mewes is in the reboot, which gives him more emotional work because of the nature of the movie.
