10 Things We Want To See In Peter Jackson's Upcoming Beatles Documentary

7. Don't Let Me Down Production

For as much that has been said about the Beatles great single cuts, "Don't Let Me Down" is a lowlight that has become a fan favorite. With its more organic production, the song is a true declaration of love from John Lennon that only seems to get better with time.

While it may not have been released on the proper studio album for Let It Be, the actual recording and production were done at the same time, with even Apple proclaiming it as the Beatles getting back to basics. The song has seen some screentime during the Beatles rooftop performance, but the actual poignancy of the song gets a bit muddied when Lennon forgets the words and starts spewing gibberish.

It's a mystery as to whether the initial filming was started before or after the song was completed, but it would be nice to see the Beatles working this song out in the studio, especially when it came time for Lennon to reach into his higher register to get the right amount of grit out of his voice. The band eventually abandoned the back to basics approach of this album, but hearing this song come to life in the studio may be the one instance we see of that mindset working in the right context.
