10 Things We Want To See In Simon Kinberg's Battlestar Galactica Film

8. Galactica Herself

The Battlestar Galactica is a giant aircraft carrier in space, housing not just the military personnel but also the Viper fighters that keep the fleet safe. The innovative designs, both original and the re-imagination, display those outer pods that serve for both landing and take off, while the centre of the ship is a fortified hulk that has been shown to take nuclear blasts and live to tell the tale.

Both series also display a variation on the Battlestar designs, with other Battlestars like the Pegasus and Valkyrie showing variations on a theme. So, much like JJ Abrams was faced with the daunting task of updating the Enterprise back in 2009, Simon Kinberg is now faced with the task of updating Galactica for the movie.

The film is almost certain to change the look of the ship, which has already been proven to be very doable and successful. However, there is a razor's edge to walk here: there is a risk of simply copying (to a fault) of what has been done before, or going so vastly different that the spirit of the show is lost.

Something iconic, yet potentially simple, is required here. This is not an eviable task!
