10 Things We Want To See In Simon Kinberg's Battlestar Galactica Film

6. The Cylons

As the antagonists in the BSG universe, the Cylons must feature in the upcoming film. Whether they will resemble the chrome units of both the original series and the re-imagined, computer generated soldiers, or stick with the human models introduced in the re-imagined series, remains to be seen.

There is plenty of room to play here. A hybrid might be the best option, something a little lower down the evolutionary scale than Tricia Helfer's Six or Callum Keith Rennie's Leoben. Their search for both meaning and independence was part of the fuel that drove the assault on the colonies to begin with. If the film sticks closer to the original, then perhaps a pure mechanic race will feature, which would not in itself be awful - as long as the audience had a reason to care about them.

One thing is certain: Galactic Domination is a dull driving force these days. Give them a better reason to be. Make the humans an actual threat to them. The Cylons may be the villains, yet that doesn't mean they must be entirely evil.
