10 Things You Can Expect From Ben Affleck's Batman Movie

2. Excruciating Levels Of Tension

Though he might not (yet) be an expert in action, one thing Ben Affleck excels at as a director is in creating a sense of tension or dread. Anyone looking for evidence should see the scene in The Town between Jon Hamm's FBI agent and Blake Lively's unwitting stool pigeon, or most of Gone Baby Gone, which summons up a sense of unease out of thin air. Affleck's coup de grace in this department so far, however, can be seen in Argo's final scenes, which ratchet up the suspense to excruciating, nigh-on Hitchcockian levels, as the escaping American hostages attempt to leave a tumultuous Iran in plain sight. Imagine this kind of heightened tension added to a superhero story, and you might end up with Ben Affleck's The Batman. It would certainly be a change of pace from the unsubtle, explode-y theatrics of Zack Snyder's DCCU movies (let's just assume Batman V Superman is going to be more of the same following Man Of Steel). If The Batman does fall into Affleck's hands, expect a more delicate touch than Snyder's city-goes-boom approach.
