10 Things You Didn't Know About Michael Myers
6. He Was Possessed By A Celtic Teenager
Author Dennis Etchison is no stranger to the Halloween franchise, having novelized Parts 2 and 3(as “Jack Martin”) and written an unused script for Part 4. Under the name “Curtis Richards”, he also penned a novelization of the first film that explains Michael’s seemingly random murder spree.
Opening “on the eve of Samhain, in a foggy vale in Northern Ireland, at the dawn of the Celtic race”, the book tells how Enda, a disfigured teenager, killed two lovers and was subsequently cursed by the king’s shaman. After his death, Enda’s soul will wander in limbo, repeating the crime for all eternity.
That doesn’t really contradict our understanding of Myers from Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers, where a character claims he heard “The Voice” on the night he killed his sister. He was being manipulated by The Cult Of Thorn, a cult dating back to the time of the druids, whose cursed subjects carry a mark on their wrists.
