Known as “The Shape” in John Carpenter’s original script, 21 year old Michael Myers was first portrayed by Nick Castle, a friend of Carpenter’s from film school who worked for $25 a day. He later co-wrote Escape From New York with Carpenter before becoming a filmmaker in his own right, directing The Last Starfighter, The Boy Who Could Fly and Major Payne.

More recently, Myers was portrayed by Tyler Mane, who’d previously played Sabretooth in X-Men. Of the seven actors who’ve played the masked adult Myers, only Mane got to kill an Oscar winner – Octavia Spencer (The Help) in 2009’s Halloween II.

In Driving Lessons, Adam Green’s spoof Halloween short, Michael was played by Kane Hodder, who has the distinction of being the only actor to play all the big screen boogeymen. As well as playing Jason Voorhees four times, he doubled for RA Milhailoff in Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III and was Freddy’s hand in Jason Goes To Hell.
