10 Things You Didn’t Know About The Insidious Film Franchise
3. Insidious: The Last Key Is The Only Film Not To Be Directed By One Of The Franchise's Creators
Any fan of the horror genre will know that whenever you have a successful franchise, the filmmakers who created it are rarely at the helm outside of one of two films. Wes Craven only directed 2 instalments of A Nightmare on Elm Street, and John Carpenter only directed 1 Halloween. Even James Wan only directed 1 of the Saw films.
Insidious bucks the trend somewhat, as creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell directed the first three films between them. However, the directing duties were handed over to somebody who didn't create the franchise for the fourth film, and that was up and coming horror director Adam Robitel.
After crashing on to the horror scene with The Taking of Deborah Logan (Watch it!), Robitel has the honour of directing the highest grossing film in the franchise, and has since directed surprise 2019 hit Escape Room. The dude has talent, and is a director to keep an eye on.
