10 Things You Didn't Know About Alan Rickman

4. Researchers Found Rickman's Voice Was One Of The Two Components Of The "Perfect Voice"

It's no secret how iconic Alan Rickman's voice has become, being the subject of parody and impression for many years yet remaining a key part of many of his incredible performances (Harry Potter fans will never forget the first time they heard Rickman's Snape drone €œMisterrrrrrr Potterrrrrr€).

What you probably don't know, however, is that the beauty and power of Rickman's voice has been the subject of linguistic study. The study €“ which was commissioned by Post Office Telecoms €“ asked various participants to rate fifty voices. The results showed that Alan Rickman and Jeremy Irons were considered to have the perfect male voices. Research was carried out by a linguist named Andrew Linn and a sound engineer named Shannon Harris. Interestingly (and by total coincidence) Rickman and Irons played brothers in the Die Hard series.
