The Coen brothers' work hasn't been adapted all that much (with the exception of FX's television adaptation of Fargo), however, Blood Simple was actually re-made in 2009 as A Woman, A Gun and A Noodle Shop (also called A Simple Noodle Story).

It was directed by Chinese director, Zhang Yimou, who called the original one of his favourites. Like its predecessor, the film centres on a complicated murder plot and is an odd genre blend of thriller, film noir and screwball comedy.

The remake was actually quite a big commercial success (grossing $38.6 million on a $12 million budget), but unfortunately received mixed reviews, one who called it “baffling”. It most likely misses the Coen brothers at the helm.
