7. It Took Them A Year To Get The Funding For The Film

It’s hard to imagine now, but the Coens were completely new to the film industry back in the early 1980s and knew practically no-one in the business.

Therefore, instead of asking producers for the money, they turned their attention to entrepreneurs. They went around to people’s homes and workplaces just with a projector and their fake trailer footage in hopes of selling their movie.

This whole process of raising the required $1.5 million took a year, but eventually, when the film was released and was successful, all 65 investors made a profit from their investment.
