8. They Made A Fake Trailer To Get The Trailer Made
When the Coens were trying to get financing for the project, they stole a trick that Sam Raimi (a good friend of the Coens) used when he was making Evil Dead, which was to make a fake trailer.
The Coens stated that with actual visual proof, this would intrigue potential investors a lot more than just a boring movie pitch.
The trailer surfaced online in 2016, and features Evil Dead actor Bruce Campbell in the role that would eventually be played by Dan Hedaya.
The footage actually contains some shots which feature in the finished movie - including gun shots on a back-lit wall, and a man about to kill another man in a road with a shovel.
