4. Getting Distribution For The Film Was Very Difficult
Just like getting financing, getting distribution to get the film out there was quite difficult as well.
After spending a year in editing, the brothers approached many studios, including Warner Bros., who all rejected it.
They then showed it at a variety of film festivals (including Cannes, Sundance, Toronto Film Festival, etc.), before it was bought by Circle Films, who saw it at Toronto. It was reported that Warner Bros. attempted to re-buy the film from Circle, after it received critical acclaim, with no avail.
