10. He's Only In A New Hope For 12 Minutes
Given the important nature of his character, there's a tendency to overestimate just how much time Darth Vader spends on-screen. Because although he is probably the first thing you think of when somebody says "Star Wars," everybody's favourite Sith Lord only appeared in A New Hope for an unbelievably short period of time: 12 minutes. Yes, seriously. He was given surprisingly little to do in that original movie, as most of his time in the plot occurs towards the beginning of the film with only a few extended sequences later on; his iconic lightsaber fight with Obi-Wan Kenobi and the final Death Star assault. And yet, despite his limited screen time, Vader made an incredible impression on everyone who saw the movie. Proof that, sometimes, less really is more.
