A fun bit of trivia is that VanCamp stars in Revenge alongside a fellow survivor of The Ring videotape. Hiroyuki Sanada, who plays Satoshi Takeda in the ABC series, starred in the original Japanese Ringu, whilst Emily VanCamp had one of her first movie roles in the sequel to the American remake, The Ring Two. She actually encountered Samara a little while before then, however. Emily VanCamp was reprising a role in The Ring Two she had already played - in the short film Rings, which bridges the gap between events between The Ring and its sequel, tying directly into her appearance in the opening scene of the latter. Released as a bonus disc for a second edition of The Rings DVD, and as a bonus feature on The Ring Twos home release, the film was helmed by Darkness Falls and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles director Jonathan Liebesman and starred VanCamp as Emily, who is coaxed into watching the video by an idiot dude who watched it so he could feel cool.
