10 Things You Didn't Know About Emily VanCamp

4. She Beat A Lot Of Other Actors For The Winter Soldier Role

A place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a coveted one - for an actor, it essentially sets you up for a good few years of steady work, what with the contracts always necessitating appearances in multiple films. And as the daughter of Captain America€™s WWII beau, Sharon Carter, chances are VanCamp will be around for a good long while. She€™s already been spotted on set of Captain America: Civil War (although hopefully her role won€™t be quite as tragic there as it was in the comics), but it was a hard-fought battle to get her initial part in The Winter Soldier. VanCamp has some considerable pull from her starring performance in Revenge, it seems. Because in the audition process to play Agent 13, she managed to beat out not only future Avengers: Age Of Ultron star Elizabeth Olsen but also Anna Kendrick, Felicity Jones, Imogen Poots, Teresa Palmer, Alison Brie, Emilia Clarke, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jessica Brown Findlay. Perhaps the Russo Brothers are big ABC viewers...
