Whilst it seems that NBC sitcoms, ABC drama and CW teen genre fare are the new proving ground for future movie stars, back in the day actors used to hone their craft and get their name out there in a far more brutal, unforgiving and cheesy gladiatorial arena of fame: the daytime soap opera. Like Joey from Friends did! Emily VanCamp, for her sins, had a lot of experience in the realms of melodrama years before she even got close to Revenge or the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After all, she got her start on Everwood, which aired for four years on The WB and centred on a brain surgeon moving from Manhattan to the countryside after his wife died. Airing under the name Our New Life In Everwood in the UK for some reason, VanCamp starred as Amy Abbott, the object of the aforementioned brain surgeons teen sons affections. Mainly, though, she fulfils the role of the teenage girl gone wayward, taking drugs with her rebellious boyfriend until a bad trip has her scared straight.
