Despite the fact that Lost went on to be one of the biggest TV shows of all-time, with audiences waiting with baited breath between each and every episode as if their lives depended on it or something (for the first two seasons, anyway), Evangeline Lilly originally thought that Lost would turn out to be average at best. Or worse: "crap." Seriously. When asked about whether she predicted the success of Lost when she originally got involved with the show, the actress said:
"I thought at best we might be a mediocre television show. all I knew was that Kate was in a plane crash on a tropical island and that there was some creature on the island. At this point Im thinking 'Blue Lagoon'. When I got the call back I actually said to my agent: 'Are you sure that I should go back for this? I mean, it sounds really cheesy.' I was really nervous that this was going to be a real crap programme."
When Lilly got her hands on the script, though, she changed her mind. As would pretty much anybody reading the pilot episode of Lost - it's arguably the best pilot ever.
