5. He Signed Up To O Brother, Where Art Thou? Before Reading The Script With A Pay Cut
While it must be great for actors to pick up huge paychecks for appearing in crowd-pleasing blockbusters and romantic comedies, sometimes there are more important things in life than cold, hard cash, and branching out to try out new roles is a challenge any good actor can't resist. Obviously these smaller non-mainstream projects can't afford to pay their actors anything like the amounts the big productions offer, so actors have to consider taking a paycut if they want a part on that prestige project. Clooney was more than happy to reduce his fee for an opportunity to work with the Coen brothers - he went one step further and signed up to O Brother, Where Art Thou? without even reading the script. Clooney would work with the Coens again on Intolerable Cruelty and Burn After Reading - more recently he's been seen on the set of their upcoming comedy Hail, Caesar!, which is scheduled for release ini February 2016.
