You may have heard this one before, but do you know why Fox was so reluctant to cast Rapace in the lead role of Prometheus? Truthfully, there were multiple reasons that Fox was hesitant to cast the Swedish actor at all, let alone as the protagonist, but the main concerns were Rapace not being particularly well-known to Western audiences, and that she didn't speak English fluently. Interestingly, Ridley Scott was insistent that Rapace remain part of the cast as the lead character, and even went so far as to give Rapace one-on-one English lessons to help her brush up on her linguistics. One thing's for sure though: as good as Rapace's English had gotten by the time Prometheus was released, her accent certainly didn't sound British in the slightest. Odd the the film's writers opted to make the character of Shaw English to begin with if they knew the actor playing said character wasn't a native speaker of the language. It's not even as if the nationality of Shaw is even relevant to the film's narrative in the first place.
