10 Things You Didn't Know About Prometheus

6. Alphabetical Androids

Sometimes, the most obvious easter eggs in films are also the most easily overlooked. Something so simple as a person's (or in this case, synthetic's) name can be part of a long-running tradition of how a fictional character's name is decided. In the very first Alien film, Ian Holm's first portrayal of a synthetic was called Ash. In Aliens and Aliens 3 we had Lance Henrikson's Bishop, in Alien: Resurrection there was Winona Ryder's Call, and in Prometheus; there was David, played brilliantly by Michael Fassbender. Aside from the alphabetical chronology for all the synthetic characters to have appeared in all the films so far, what makes the little quirk even more interesting is how all of the films had different directors (excluding Alien and Prometheus). While the revelation makes you wonder if the directors of all the films didn't have a secret little meeting to decide that all synthetic characters followed each other alphabetically, the far more likely answer is either coincidence, or that Jean-Pierre Jeunet noticed a pattern after Aliens 3 and decided to run with it when he made Alien: Resurrection.
