6. Jeff Bridges Needed To Know When The Dude Had Been Smoking
This ones a tiny detail from the shooting of the film that is rather revealing about how much Jeff Bridges understood The Dude. Apparently, before filming each scene, hed ask the Coen brothers Did The Dude burn one on the way over? Referring, of course, to weed. If they told him that The Dude did indeed light up on the way here, Bridges would rub his knuckles in his eyes for a minute before filming the next shot. This would make them bloodshot, and help create the illusion that The Dude was nursing a buzz. Judging by the finished film, the Coens must have said yes to Bridges queries quite often. He looks pretty out of it most of the time, after all. Of course, you could just put that down to The Dudes extremely relaxed view of life. Yeah, well, thats just, like, your opinion, man.
