10 Things You Didn't Know About The Mad Max Trilogy

7. Art Director Jon Dowding Had To Steal The Props

Working on a tight budget often means that a film production has to cut corners (forgive the pun) here and there, and sometimes go to even greater lengths to make sure they get the shot they're looking for. Mad Max's art director Jon Dowding went a few steps further than most people would to dress a set just the way they wanted it - when the prop department couldn't get their hands on the props required for the milk bar scene they simply stole them in the early hours of the morning from a local business. Not wanting to run the risk of actually getting caught and going to jail, Dowding and his team sneakily returned the stolen items once the scene had been shot, putting it back where they'd found it and hoping that no one would notice. As far as we know they got away with it Scott free.
