6. George Miller Bribed Cast And Crew With Crates Of Beer

What happens when you're producing a low budget genre pic and you can't really afford to pay the people who are working on it? Goodwill will only get you so far, and after a few weeks labouring through long days and nights for nothing people are bound to get a bit uppity. George Miller came up with an answer to this problem which is fitting, given that Mad Max was made in Australia - he bribed people with slabs of beer. The Ozzies certainly have a reputation for loving their beer so the chance to pick up a crate of 24 cans no doubt made working in the desert heat far more palatable. Ambulance and tractor drivers were bribed with the booze to help out on the production, and it wouldn't be remotely surprising if the biker gang picked up a few for themselves to help ease the pain of falling off their motorbikes. After all, they weren't even paid actors...
