The final sequence of this film is pretty much destined to go down as the greatest in the franchise's history

From the moment Michael appears outside of Laurie's house, the third act of this film steps on the gas and never looks back. It somehow manages to deliver the showdown between Laurie and Michael that fans have been dreaming of for years, while also being so much more.

The bulk of the third act is actually devoted to Laurie systematically hunting down Michael, a distinct change for a franchise that has spent so much of its time showing Michael hunting others. Seeing Laurie move through the house, checking each and every corner of every room and then locking them down is so fulfilling because the film is able to have its climax without ever diminishing Laurie's intelligence.

Whereas a lesser film would have had Laurie's preparations and precautions fall by the wayside in order to fuel the conflict, this film does not. Instead, the thrill of the third act comes from Laurie, Karen, and Allyson all being more than capable of outsmarting and defeating Michael, and in Michael finally truly meeting his match.

The final moment of them trapping Michael in the basement as the house is engulfed in flames as The Shape Burns cues up is incredibly fulfilling specifically because of this.
