10 Things You Need To Know About Captain America: Civil War
6. T'Challa Won't Be Black Panther Just Yet
There are a lot of conflicting rumours about what kind of role Black Panther will play in Captain America: Civil War. Most point to him suiting up and fighting on the side of Iron Man before defecting to Captain America's team, but Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige recently shed at least some light on the part T'Challa has to play in his introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Apparently, he’s only just taken on the Black Panther mantle because his father is getting older. Feige refused to reveal whether that means moviegoers won’t actually see him in costume at this stage, but, as most suspected, it is indeed the events of Avengers: Age Of Ultron that cause Black Panther to insert himself into the outside world.
He’ll be something of a middle man according to Feige, as T’Challa will serve as “fresh eyes who wasn't embedded with the Avengers and who has a very different point of view than either Tony or Steve.”
This is an interesting direction to take Black Panther's story in, as his solo movie will no doubt now just pick up with him already in that role, thereby skipping the typical origin story. Then again, it almost sounds like this movie will be at least partially responsible for that.
