Just like Civil War itself happening on the big screen is something of a dream come true for fans, so too is Spider-Man joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The producers of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 said it would never happen while promoting the sequel last year, but that was before it ended up being a commercial and critical disappointment. Realising they needed to take drastic measures to save the franchise, Sony paired up with Marvel to let them reboot Peter Parker once again.

However, while the character playing a pivotal and large role in the comic book version of the story, Tom Holland will only be shooting in Atlanta for around a week, and isn't expected to make much more than a cameo appearance as the new wall-crawler.

What his role will entail isn't clear at this point, but it's thought that Spider-Man will interact with both Captain America and Iron Man. Kevin Feige has already confirmed that Peter will be sporting a homemade costume, and if details in the "Sony Hack" emails are to be believed, Peter will have his Iron Spider outfit by the time the credits roll ready for his solo outing in 2017.
