10 Things You Need To Know About J.J. Abrams' Superman: Flyby

10. Krypton Is Important

Abrams commented, in the run up to recent grimdark Superman reboot Man Of Steel, on the similarities between his script and Zack Snyder's film. There actually is a lot that Flyby and Man Of Steel have in common, not least of all the importance of Krypton in the film. Obviously Krypton's fairly important in every Superman story - it is where he comes from and all. Man Of Steel spent its first twenty minutes on the planet, with the hero's father Jor-El getting up to all sorts of action-packed shenanigans before jetting his son off to Earth. Flyby also involved Superman's dad, only this time he was immersed in a civil war, pitted against his corrupt brother, Kata-Zor. A trio of Kryptonian villains figure as heavily in Flyby as they do in Man Of Steel, lead by main antagonist Ty-Zor: Kata-Zor's son and so, Superman's cousin.
