10 Things You Need To Know About J.J. Abrams' Superman: Flyby

9. The Origin Story Was Tweaked

Whilst most versions of Superman fighting fellows Kryptonians involves the presence of General Zod, who avoided the destruction of Krypton - you know, the whole reason the Man Of Steel gets sent to Earth in the first place - there's no Phantom Zone prison or any of that nonsense in the Flyby script. Nope, because Krypton hasn't actually been destroyed. Eh what? Yep, J.J. Abrams totally threw out one of the central incidences of the Superman origin story, having Jor-El rocketing his sprog away from Krypton not because it's about to blow up, but so his brother doesn't kill him. Also there's some mumbo jumbo about Superman being €œdestined€ to live on Earth, or something. There's also a weird thing about how Martha and Jonathan Kent are worried their super-powered adopted kid - whose arrival they were warned about ahead of time - might kill them.
