10 Things You Need To Know About J.J. Abrams' Superman: Flyby

6. The Rest Of The Cast Was Bonkers

Considering how weird a choice Nicolas Cage was for the part, the producers of Superman: Flyby managed to group together an equally bizarre and disparate cadre of actors to audition for the Man Of Steel. Which they matched with the rest of the casting as well. Amy Adams auditioned for Lois Lane, the role she eventually played in Man Of Steel, but Scarlett Johansson and Felicity's Keri Rusell were also in line; Christopher Walken was in negotiations to play Daily Planet editor Perry White, with Shia LaBeouf (whilst he was still famous) the main pick for Jimmy Olsen; and Anthony Hopkins would've been Jor-El. Lex Luthor was, of course, going to be involved, even if the main villain was going to be those Kryptonian criminals. Apparently Robert Downey, Jr. was the final casting, but before that Johnny Depp and Ralph Fiennes were also given a shot.
