10 Things You Need To Know About James Cameron's Spider-Man

8. ...Along With Sandman

The other principal antagonist in James Cameron's Spider-Man was Flint Marko, better known as Sandman, who wound up being played by the guy from Sideways in Sam Raimi's third film. No, not that one, he was The Rhino in Amazing Spider-Man 2. The other one. And for some reason Cameron changed his name again, for no discernible reason. Here Sandman was born a man named Boyd, who was mutated by an accident involving psychic powers and atom-splitting €“ obviously €“ instead of getting caught in a nuclear bast at a beach and literally mixing with it. Otherwise Cameron's take was standard Sandman, making his fists into hammers and wearing a stripy t-shirt. Oh, except he died at the end. Spider-Man villains die all the time, but it's usually by accident, like Green Goblin getting impaled by his own glider. In this case, however, he gets turned to glass after the wall crawler smacks him into some fire. Melting glass, mind you. Which is mildly horrifying.
