10 Things You Need To Know About Marvel's New Spider-Man

2. Marvel Never Considered Using Miles Morales

When it was revealed that Spider-Man would be getting yet another reboot, it took no time at all for rumours about Miles Morales being who they focus on to start doing the rounds. Kevin Feige has made it clear that it was always the plan to use Peter Parker and explore the aspects of his character (the nervous humour he employs while in costume for example) that previous movies failed to. It doesn't sound like they ever considered changing Peter's race either, despite there being a vocal minority hoping it would happen here. Both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's take on Spider-Man was somewhat lacking, so it's clearly a priority for Marvel to finally get Peter right before they start looking elsewhere. Miles is ultimately a character who would be better served being introduced as a supporting character. From there, he could easily take over the mantle in the future. You can't blame Marvel for wanting to use the Spider-Man after making that deal with Sony!
