10 Things You Need To Know About Mission: Impossible 5

6. The Writer

Ethan Hunt Despite the fact that his big Mandarin twist in Iron Man 3 upset some fanboys, the news that Drew Pearce had been hired to write Mission: Impossible 5 was met with a positive response when it was announced. With a penchant for sharp and funny dialogue, he seemed like a the best possible choice to help keep the franchise going as it moved towards its fifth instalment. However, since then, a lot of other writers have been brought in. Will Staples (Modern Warfare 3), and Laeta Kaleogridis and Patrick Lussier (Terminator: Genisys) have all taken a crack at the screenplay, and it's fair to sat that it is usually not a great sign for so many writers to have tried to make a movie work in the eyes of the studio. The latest draft was penned by Christopher McQuarrie, something which should help ease the minds of fans, as his credits include Edge of Tomorrow and The Usual Suspects.
